Multiple Studies Reveal Increased Marketing Budgets and Hiring
Projected for 2005
By Peter DeLegge |
|
Two
recent studies have found plans for increased marketing budgets and
marketing hiring in 2005.
A CPRi
survey of more than 2,500 marketing professionals at Fortune 500 US
companies found that 52% of those surveyed plan to hire additional marketing
professionals in 2005. An additional 25% of those surveyed expressed a need
for increased staff but did not have the budget to add these positions.
The top five
areas of marketing that Fortune 500 companies plan to increase their
spending are Branding, Internet Marketing, Research, Advertising and Data
Analysis.
The CPRi study
is in-line with a recent Millward Brown study that found 60 percent of
marketers expect marketing budgets to increase in 2005 over 2004. Marketers with the largest budgets ($400 million+) were
most optimistic about marketing budget increases.
